We use call tracking software for all of our pay per lead projects, it just makes sense for a variety of reasons as shown in the below video.
The below referenced article goes into some more detail that we agree with regarding what needs to happen beyond just initiating the call, which is where a lot of ‘SEO experts’ really drop the ball. They can get so focused on the marketing and generating that call to the client, they often have no follow thru and therefor no idea of what happens once the client picks up the phone and starts talking to the potential customer.
Or if they even pick the phone up at all vs miss the call! (This happens way more often than you would think!)
So that is why we not only track calls on a broad level, but also enable call recordings (with the appropriate disclaimers for legal and ethical reasons of course). So we can go over calls with the client and actually help them (which helps us) with boosting conversion rates.
Let’s say 10 calls are generated over the course of a week for a local business. 3 of those don’t get picked up at all…and in many cases people will just go down the list and call the next business listed in Google. 2 of those calls are answered in an unprofessional way by either the business owner or the secretary. The other half of the calls are actually not only answered, but answered in such a way that the client is hired for their services.
What happened there? 50% conversion rate. Why? Poor call flow, which we can fix by having the calls recorded and go over any mistakes and fix them with the client. To turn that into a 100%, or darn close, conversion rate.
The difference in profit are obvious.
